Intense Throat Itching, Soreness On Top Part Of Mouth. Over The Counter Medications?

I have had itchy throat in week one, second week it got worse, and now is the third week and it is worse. My top part of mouth is also sore. I do not have fever or body ache. Also, the first week I did have stuffy nose , and second week mucus was green and going behind my throat. Now, I don t have stuffy nose. What over the counter medication should I take for my sore throat? I know if I go to the doctor it is not bacterial so I will not get antibiotics for it. Please advise?

Hello and welcome,

Thanks for your query.

The chance of it being a bacterial infection still exists my friend. If you were producing sputum which was green in color, there could be a chance of it being a bacterial infection and thus it can be treated with antibiotics.

You also gave us a history of a stuffy nose. An examination by the doctor could reveal swelling or inflammation in the throat that could be the result of an infection.

If none of the above mentioned is present then the doctor can even take a throat swab and send it to the laboratory for examination. Or even the sputum that could still be present but may not be getting expectorated (expelled).

Please do not ignore, and make a visit to a doctor who will surely help rid you of your symptoms.

I hope I have succeeded in answering your questions, you could write back to us anytime for further clarifications.

Best wishes.
