Inner Knee Injury, Knot Formation In Vein, Cramps, Painful Lower Calf, Bruised And Groin Pain. What Is Wrong?

Hi yesterday evening I was playing with my dog and her rope knot, as I swang the rope the knot hit the outer side of my inner knee, the stinging pain was weird, and a big knotty vein appeared very dark, we put ice on it and it calmed down, Today I have the bruise the size of a ball, plus my lower calf is aching, my knee feels like it has cramp and I have upper leg pain going into my groin, and a slight pins and needles feeling. I have been elevating the leg when I can but I work 50 hrs a week as a chef. Any ideas.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury . Lump and knot formation might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
