BUT it will not cause full recovery and cure your from virus.There is no specific medicine for hepatiits B. It will just make your liver less damaged. Yes,your doctors opinion is correct, livolin is not the definitive treatment of hepatitis B.

Hepatitis B infection can be acute or chronic.This depends upon when you have acquired this infection.

Only conservative management is required for acute hepatitis B infection,antiviral treatment is not required at this stage.

Acute hepatitis B can progress to chronic hepatitis over a period of time.

Following tests can detect whether infection is acute or chronic:

HBsAg antigen test.
Anti-HBeAg IgM and IgG
Anti-HBcAg IgM and IgG
HBV-DNA titre PCR test

Chronic hepatitis may lead to cirrhosis of liver and liver failure if not treated in time.

Treatment of chronic Hepatitis B depends up on following parameters:
SGOT and SGPT
HBV-DNA titre
Anti-HBeAg positivity
Presence or absence of cirrhosis
Liver Histology
Presence of HIV

Following drugs are available for HBV treatment-
-Peg Interferon alfa
-Adefovir
-Tenofovir
-Entecavir
-Telbivudine
-Lamivudine
