Infant With Frequent Cold And Cough. On Rhinathiol And Meptin. Taking Zyrtec For Allergy. Is There A Permanent Solution?

Hie doctor I have a 27 month old daughter and she is 14 kgs .from past 2 months she is getting cough and cold very frequently.she got nebuliser around ten times and is still taking medicines but I still feel she has cough .she is taking rhinathiol and meptin and at night m giving her Zyrtec for anti allergy .can you please help me with a permanent solution for her cold

Thank you for your query.

I am surprised that your daughter is receiving nebuliser and bronchodilator (Meptin) for cough and cold unless she has findings which are suggestive of asthma. Rhinathiol is to loosen the tenacious bronchial secretions and Zyrtec is an anti-allergic. I suggest that you discuss with your doctor and try to find if your daughter has wheezing suggestive of asthma for which the treatment seems to be appropriate.

On the other hand, children of this age tend to get repeated upper respiratory tract infection for which a simple decongestant cough syrup and steam inhalation should suffice. You can help boost her immunity by giving her a good nutritious diet and avoid junk food. If she is being bottle fed then attention needs to be given for bottle hygiene.
