Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
good morning i am just looking for help my sister-in-law has a baby girl and her baby s hair is covered with boils and she has been using these oil and a type of herbal to treat it from home but it seems to get worse can you give me ideas of how i could treat it from home to calm the pain down on the baby s head please.
The child looks like having bacterial skin infection of the scalp know as pyoderma.
If the boils are less, only topical antibacterial ointment like mupirocin application thrice daily for 5 to 7 days is enough.
If the boils are extensive, in addition to local application oral antibiotics like cephalexin, cefadroxil, or amoxicillin may be needed.
And I advise you not to apply any oil or herbal product for this lesions as the problem may be aggravated by leading to contact dermatitis or spreading of the infection to the other areas.
I advise you to consult the pediatrician for the examination of the scalp and for the prescription of medication.
