Infant Started Vomiting With Diarrhea. Noticed White Flecks In Stool. Is The Infant Lactose Intolerant?

My 3 month old has had vomiting and diarrhea for a while now, his stools appear to have white flecks in and there is mucus in his vomit. I had brought him to the family doctor but was told there was nothing wrong because it doesnt seem to annoy him when he is sick. He is sick after every bottle and wakes sweaty every morning. Could he be lactose intolerant

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Vomiting and diarrhoea need not be lactose intolerance. First intestinal infection should be ruled out with a stool routine examination.

Ensure that bottle hygiene is maintained while feeding your child to prevent intestinal infection. Also ensure that the child is having enough of liquids to prevent dehydration.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Regards,

RKK

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
acute gastroenteritis is mostly viral in origin and takes some days to settle.
since baby is not on breast feed and is being fed by bottle,so most important thing is to maintain proper hygiene.
I advise you to give lactobaccilus sached for 2 to 3 days.and watch for his activity, urine output.
there are no symptoms suggesting he is lactose intolerant, like smell and consistency of stools, stool examination can also be done.
In case symptoms do not improve take pediatric consultation.
Your baby will be fine.
God bless
