Infant Having Large White Blister On Tongue. Consult Doctor Or Can Just Wait?
My daughter (13 months) has a large white blister on her tongue that I just noticed today. She has also been increasingly fussy. She also the last few days has napped more than usual but has eaten a normal amount. It does not look like thrush but what else could it be? Is this something I should take her in for or just keep an eye on?
Your daughter might be developing a viral infection called hand, foot and mouth disease also know as herpangina or another viral infection of the mouth called herpetic gingivostomatitis. She can develop similar blisters elsewhere in her mouth as well as her buttocks, her palms and soles. It takes time for these blisters to heal.
I would suggest you should take her to her pediatrician to have her examined and to have a confirmed diagnosis. Make sure to keep her hydrated at this time, offer her plenty of fluids and watch her urine output carefully. If she gets excessively sleepy, not acting herself and not drinking fluids, then donot delay to take her to the pediatrician.
