hi. i have a 7 month old baby girl. she has had a blocked nose & cold since last 7 days. she took a course of zyrcold for last 7 days. however there has not been any improvement. she is as such fine but just very cranky when she sleeps at night and keeps waking up every few hrs. the blockage is quite a bit as its very audible when she breathes. we put nasoclear drops 3-4 times a day. pls help. should we use an aspirator? further doc, i have to mention that my baby never sleeps before 1.30 am, even when she was fine. how do we get her to start sleeping earlier. she sleeps for an hour in the evening. otherwise she is awake but still doesnt sleep till that late...

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
For cold you can continue Zyrcold as prescribed by your Doctor and you can use nasoclear nasal drops whenever there is nasal block.
If the nasal block is with a thick mucus, instill one to two drops of nasoclear and gently aspirate with a nasal aspirator but frequent aspirator use may lead to redness and irritability.
Before feeding and before going to bed you put nasal drops so that baby will take feeds and sleeps comfortbly.
In day time try to interact with your baby more, give response to her verbal and nonverbal coos,so baby daytime nap will be cut down and sleeps early in the night.
Hope i have answered your query.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Nose block is common in infants.
I suggest you not to give zyrcold drops for longer duration ,do continue ith saline drops 3 to 4 times a day preferably before feeding and before bedtime.
Humidification of room also helps to relieve obstruction. ,aspiator can be used but not more frequently.
Regarding her sleeping late night,i like to mention that sleeping patterns take time to get established in babies.avoid putting her to sleep during daytime.indulge her in playing and other interesting activities, this way she will be tired and will sleep properly during night.

wishing your baby good health.
God bless
