Infant Cries Before Urinating, Bulgy Stomach, Inflammation In Vagina, UTI. What Is Wrong?

My 12 days old daughter has suddenly started to scream/cry uncontrollably for the past 2 days. We observed that she does this just before passing urine and/or stool. Most of the times while passing urine. It becomes very difficult to pacify her and cuddling helps only for few seconds. She gained close to a pound now and could see her stomach a little bulgy and not so fluffy.

She is breastfed and her intake is about 5-10 mins each side for approx. 2-3 hours. Her stool is little watery but not much difference when she was normal. When checked with our pediatrician, she mentioned that baby has some minor inflation in her vagina and prescribed an ointment (). She also mentioned that her openings are not very tight, so UTI might not be the cause for this.

My daughter was very normal until 2 days back and this behavior of her is really upsetting the family.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic
your baby's problem seems to be infantile colick
it is common in new born babies up to 3 months of age
antispasmodic drops like colicaid may be given 5 drops 3-4 times daily
the pain is due to normal peristaltic movements
the baby gets used to these movements in due course
please feel free to ask if you have any more doubts
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Take care
