Increased Blood Sugar Levels. Taking Actos And Lantus. When Will It Start To Work?

My A1c has gone up to 9.3, so my doctor decided to change my meds. I have been taking Actos for about 2 weeks and have seen no benefit. My doctor just added Lantus. 10 units. My BS seems to be lower in the morning (and by lower, I mean 230. However, my BS seems to go up as the day goes on. When I go to bed my BS is usually in the 400s. Will the Lantus take some time? I have only been on it for 4 days. I do feel better and am not urinating as frequently, but I'm getting nervous.

Hi, according to the readings it is not at all under controle, you may need to use insulin for controle, and with may or may not be with oral medicines, It appears that your diet controle is also not upto the mark. When it is not controlled by medicines diet controle is a must for controle of sugar, and you should be under strict diet controle through out the life. Thank you.

Hello,
Your blood sugar levels are highly uncontrolled and they need to be controlled urgently.
ACTOS is PUOGLITAZONE and LANTUS is long acting insulin to provide basal supply of insulin in body.
If you are taking only these two medicines, then very frankly speaking they would be insufficient to control your sugar levels.
There are various types of oral anti diabetics are available which can be given to you like insulin secreatagogues,GLIPTINS,bigunades etc.
I advise you to consult a internal medicine specialist or a diabetologist for proper investigations and proper treatment.
Along with medications, take complete dietary control measures and do regular aerobic exercises for at least 45 minutes a day.
Thanks
