Increase In Eye Pressure Compared To Last Year's Result, Have Been Crying Often. Could That Be A Cause?

I just took my 13 year old daughter to the optometrist to get contacts and he was concerned that her eye pressure had risen from 17 in each eye last year to 26 in one eye and 28 in the other. She had been crying not too long before the appointment. Can that make an impact? She also had only woken up about an hour earlier. Could this be a part of it?

Hi,
thanks for writing in.
No, the crying wouldn't have caused such an increase in the eye pressure. it is important that we look for a cause because the increased eye pressure can damage the nerve fibres and cause permanent changes in the vision.
Hope that helps
Regards
