Dermatologist Dr. Gaurang Krishna's  Response
I really do not think these are neurofibromas. Dear Dr Ghosh, what is there in the patient's description that made you think it is a neurofibroma? With all due respect neurofibromatosis is not a common disorder at all. Please tell me what are the different types of neurofibroms ( which are very common) and which are felt as lumps under the skin. I will be more than happy to know a reference for this. I am willing to learn from you.

welcome to health care magic. I do not think that you have neurofibroms as they are associated with textural changes and most of the lesions are more OUTSIDE the skin than Inside. It is also associated with many internal problems and is a serious and rare problem. What you have is what we call LIPOMAS. they are basically localized fatty tissue collections. They are only of cosmetic importance. You can leave them alone if they are not bothering you. But incase you have pain or very unsightly, then you can go for surgical removal of individual lesions. No medicine is available for their removal or prevention.
