I Have Constant Lumbar Muscle Spasms Due To Herniated Disk In Lumbar

I have weakness and pain in my left leg. The MRI I just had done shows a bad tear in my L5-S1 disk and the vertebrae has collapse significantly. Is surgery necessary in the near future for me. I have constant lumbar muscle spasms and pain plus numbness down both legs but my left leg is weak.

hi,
according to your symptoms you need surgical intervention (discectomy). It is always better to have elective surgery than an emergency one.
By newer techniques, discectomy is very safe surgery now-a-days. I am doing discectomy with 1 inch incision by foraminotomy & allow the patient to do his routine work next day onward
