I Have An Inconsistent Pain In One Of My Testicles. What Are The Possible Causes Of This Pain ?

I have an inconsistent pain in one of my testicles . It only hurts when I lean or move a certain way, but other than that there s no discomfort. I didn t think this was serious, but my girlfriend tried to find answers online and seems to think I should go to the ER. What are common causes for a periodic pain in my testicle? I thought I should wait to see if symptoms persist for a few days, is that a bad idea? After an examination the pain seems to be coming from epididymis on my right testicle.

Urologist 's  Response
from the description of your symptoms you appear to be having either torsion which is getting reversed by itself or varicocele. See a urologist and get yourself treated because consequences of former can be devastating

General & Family Physician Dr. Vidya Muralidhar's  Response
Hi
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.

Pain in the testes could be due to many causes like torsion of testes which is more acute and sudden, epididymitis, any trauma to testes, following a viral infection they get inflammed called orchitis, any abdominal infections and even a kidney stone could radiate the pain.
In your case as it is intermittent more likely to be epididymitis. You need a course of antibiotics for the same , it will be fine in 3 weeks .
If the pain gets very severe, it needs immediate review just keeping torsion in mind, being an emergency

Wish you good health
