I Have A One Sided Enlarged Heart And Leaky Heart Valves

If one side of your heart is enlarged and you have leaky heart valves will life be shorter? If one side of your heart is enlarged and you have leaky heart valves will life be shorter?

Well that depends. If you avoid overexertion, take your medications, change your lifestyle, stop smoking, watch your diet, and get some activity that you can tolerate, watch your fluid intake, and.....opt for a prosthetic valve if you need it, make regular visits to your doctor, and cut down your stress, then....you just might live longer than any of us.....really!

Hi well come to HCM.
Any enlargement of heart and leakage of valves will definately have effect on life span.
But degree of enlargfement, decompansation of heart funtion.,degree of leakage, corre-
table with surgery or not all are imprtant to decide effect on life span. With grace of
god advancement in medical sciences with appliction of newer technique suffering and
lif apan of people with such ailment have improved a lot.Take care THanks
