I Am Putting On Weight Due To Water Retention

i am a 44 yrs old housemaker and i live in mumbai. i am having a water retention issue because of which i keep on putting on weight irrespective of what i eat or whether i eat or not at all. i gain upto a kilo in about 20 days on an average. my current weight is 76.6 kgs and my height is 4 11 . i had undertaken a urine test for the same but results have been satisfactory, so kidney problem has been ruled out. i am currently on medication but have stopped taking it because of their apparent side effects.i also have a high blood pressure issue.

hi well come to Hcm
Kidney problem cannot be ruled out only with the help of urine report only.Water reten
happens because of many things if it is pathological lik-Heart enlargement, liver cirrhosis, chronic renal failure anemia etc. so first decide is it pathological.Than you
should investigate as per the guidance of your Doctor. Thanks

Welcome to Healthcare Magic
Do you have swelling of feet, increased or decreased urine output. What drugs are you taking. Is there any swelling on the face around the eyes, or hands. How are your bowel habits, any constipation or diarrhoea. Water retention suggests kidney trouble and cannot be ruled out by simple urine test but requires blood tests and imaging as well.

General & Family Physician Dr. Shainaz Arif Kaware's  Response
Hello varsha;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
If you have increase in weight like a kilo then probably this is not because of retention of water and you may be having problem with your thyroid.Increase in weight;tiredness;hair fall;depression are few symptoms of hypothyroid.So please get the thyroid test T3;T4;TSH done and if that is normal then you can get treated for water retention and if the thyroid is a problem then you have to get treated for that.
Thanks
