Hello, Thanks for your query. Circumcision Is usually done as a part of religious ritual or as a part of some medical complaint related to genital organ. It is usually performed for phimosis, a condition wherein one cannot retract ones prepusal skin while urinating or during sexual intercourse. one survey regarding carcinoma penis states the incidence of cancer being less in muslims and the reason for low incidence in them being circumcision. The chance of smegma accumulating between the glans penis and prepuce is nil post circumcision and the cause for the cancer being smegma. It does not mean that one should go for prophylactic circumcision,but genital cleanliness by cleaning genital organ daily while taking bath by retracting prepuce fully and cleanig is mandatory.
