I am having ear and throat pain

Hi doctor, for about a week now I've been having pain in my throat but it feels like it's only hurting on the right side. It hurts all the time, especially when I swallow and as I inhale it slightly irritates it. About 2-3 days ago, my right ear began hurting along with it. I recently moved out of my college dorm room. My roommate complained that she had an itchy throat. I also recently got over a cold. I don't know what they problem is and it doesn't feel like I'm catching a cold so I was hoping someone can help me. Thank-you.
