Hurts To Bend Wrist Backward. Have Not Done Any Strenuous Wrist Work. Suggestions?

Hi, I was in class and was moving my wrist in a circular motion and it hurt to bend it a little backward. I did not think anything of it but now it hurts when i push open a door or make movement when i hold something and requires my wrist to bend backwards. I have not done any strenuous wrist work other than writing in school?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
The pains that you have described are likely to be due to a muscular pain most likely caused by exertion. Taking mild pain killers and muscle relaxants will bring a short term relief. Doing hot fomatation and aplying muscle relaxant gel will be helpful.
Hope this helps you.
Regards.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

From the given description, I am of the opinion that you might have suffered a minor sprain of the wrist.

This will resolve spontaneously with adequate rest to the joint, analgesic medications as needed and ice packing to alleviate the pain.

An MRI scan is needed to establish any soft tissue damage in the wrist joint.

Consult an orthosurgeon for an evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
