Hurt Shoulder In Car Accident, Cannot Lift Arm Up, Lost All Hair, Has Alopecia, Taking Adavan. Permanent Cure?

my sister was injured in her shoulder area from being hit by a car. Now she cannot lift her arm up or do any heavy lifting. But more importantly, she lost all her hair after this accident. Doctors have told her she has Alopecia and there is no cure. She is very depressed as well and is taking Adavan? to calm her nerves.

Hello,
Thanks for using health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your given history in detail.
In your description yo have mentioned that she is having problems accepting her allopecia.
Adavan will slightly reduce her anxiety but particularly she should get some talk therapy sessions with a good psychiatrist.
Cognitive behavioral therapy will be very useful for her.
Also ask her to exercise daily and eat a good diet.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
In future if you wish to contact me directly, you can use the below mentioned link:

Hi,
thanks for using healthcare magic.
If she is under stress or depression, she should consult psychiatrist before taking any self medication. doctor may prescribe either anti depressant drugs or may put her into psychotherapy/counselling session.
For alpecia, she should consult hair transplant surgeon.
thanks

Psychiatrist Dr. Gourav Monga's  Response
Hello
Welcome to health care magic
I can understand your situation. I appreciate your effort to seek online support.

In such cases, visit a good dermatologist for newer techniques like Hair Transplantation, if possible. Adavan contains lorazepam which is an antianxiety agent. Consult a psychiatrist for detailed work up and treatment.
Try some relaxation techniques like progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, yoga or meditation.
Hope it helps
Good luck
Regards
