Hurt Elbow After Falling. Would Playing Basketball Lead To Further Injury?

I landed on my elbow pretty hard two days ago, when I woke up the next morning I couldn t straighten it or put any strain on it without a lot of pain. Today it is much better but still hurts, I have a basketball game today that I can t really miss. Can I play or would that just lead to further injury? I don t have time for an X-ray and I feel it will get better if I leave it alone.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi,

thanks for your question.

you should have an X-ray to ensure there is no fracture. most injuries and fractures at the elbow joint do not require operative management and the best way to manage them is with early mobilization .

best wishes
