Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i ve been on klonopin for 12 years. my former nurse practitioner took me off it cold turkey. i have 4 pills left and was told by my new nurse practitioner there is no chance in getting back on it. do i need to go to rehab or the emergency room when the withdrawal symptoms happen ? is there a way i can at least get weened off of it?
Hello Welcome to HCM. You have been using klonopin for 12 years. Abrupt stopping of klonopin can result in seizures, tremors, tachycardia. There are two ways to wean off from klonopin: 1. gradually decrease the dose. 2. replace it with equivalent dose of valium and then gradually reduce valium.
You can consult your doctor and follow either of the methods. Hope this helps. Thanks
