Hello Emma,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Every girl, which tries to use for the first time a tampon has the same questions as you do. My recommendations are to relax because it makes much easier the insertion of the tampon when you're relaxed. Don't worry if you are unable to insert it, because it usually takes a few tries before being able to comfortably insert a tampon. When you purchase your first box of tampons, it'll have an "instruction booklet" with diagrams. Read the instructions carefully and review the diagrams.
The easiest way to find your vagina opening is by feeling it with your fingers and looking with a mirror.
Once you are relaxed, try to push the tampon into your vagina, angling the tampon up and toward the small of your back. Always make sure you push the tampon high enough as otherwise it might feel uncomfortable. If inserted correctly, you should not be able to feel a thing! The tampon is being removed by pulling on the attached string, which has been left hanging outside the body. It is important to change your tampon at least every four to eight hours.

I hope it helped. For further questions feel free to ask again.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Ina
