My daughter got viral menningitis in May and was hospitalized for a week after which she got severe headaches. It was determined that a blood patch had not been done on her entry spot of the spinal tap and then that was done and she seemed good again. Last Thursday at work she began experiencing strange pre migraine-like vision in her right eye and this was followed by loose of some vision in that eye and has progressed with more vision lose. We understand that this is probably due to the viral menningitis, and she has now gone to a doctor. What can we expect the outcome of this situation to be?
Hello dear, Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com. I understand your concern. Here,it is must to establish the cause of present vision loss in order to determine the outcome.Presuming that it is viral meningitis that is causing the present vision loss is not rationale. You need to visit a neurologist urgently. He will do a funduscopic examination of eye,Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)Brain and probably a visual evoked potential(VEP) in order to find out the cause of vision loss.A cerebrospinal fluid examination may also be repeated.I hope it helps.
