Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Yes, if the pains have intensified, you should get yourself re checked.
37 weeks is early to start having labour pains, however you cannot ignore the risk of preterm delivery.
The labour pains that are true labour pains start from the lower abdomen, and radiate to the lower back and the thighs and legs.
They are intermittent and cramping in nature, and are associated with hardening of the
uterus.
ALso, there might be associated show - that is mucus discharge tinged with blood.
The pain is severe, and not relieved by painkillers.
It is escalating in nature.
There might be a sensation of something bearing down, and pressure on the
rectum with a desire to pass stools.
IT is imperative to have a vaginal digital exam to rule out imminent or actual labour.
Meanwhile, rest and do not
stress out.
If it indeed is preterm labour, medications to prevent it might be required.
All the best
Take care.
