How To Treat Uterine Fibroid Mediated Heavy Menstrual Bleed While On Norethisterone?

I have had heavy periods caused by uterine fibroids. My iron levels have been quite low in the past because of the heavy bleeding. I was nearly given a blood transfusion, but the doctor at a and e said that I should be fine to go on iron tablets. My understanding is that my iron levels are getting better. However, i have been taking tranaxamic acid and rarely mefanamic acid to treat the heavy bleeding when I am having my period, but I have only been taking them for one or two days (the first days of my period). Anyway, I started my peiod in January this year and took tfa only for the first two days. I should have finished my period a week later but I was still bleeding although it was light bleeidng and I thought I was coming to then of my period. Over the weekend, i started bleeding really heavily and passed a huge blood clot. I went straight in to see the emergency doctor at my local surgery, and i passed out while I was waiting to see her. When I came round, my blood pressure was low and i in a lot of abdominal pain. She prescribed me Norethisterone, to be taken 3 times a day for between 3 to ten days to stop the period. I stopped aking them on the 6th day. Two days later I started bleeding again. I am now having a heavy period and I am taking TXA and mefanamic acid. I am really worried about the Norethisterone tablets i have taken, have they ruined my cycle, and am I going to bleed forever, because I have heard some frightening stories. My doctor does not know and I don t know what to do. Advise on this would be much appreciated. email address is YYYY@YYYY

Dear member,
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
The reason for heavy bleeding is because you have stopped norethisterone.
I would recommend that you repeat the norethisterone thrice a day along with tranexamic tab thrice a day till bleeding stops.
later please don't stop norethisterone tab and continue it twice a day for a month. You can stop tranexamic tab when bleeding stops completely.
Kindly write back with age and ultrasound report so that definitive treatment can be discussedq
Thanks.
