How To Treat Torn Meniscus?

I have recently had an MRI on my left knee. The results showed torn meniscus. I am 67 still pretty active and the knee was my left and I golf. I go in for consultation in 3 weeks and I want to be prepared. I have started walking an hour before work to lose some weight but the pain is pretty bad not sure I can keep it up. I think I am going to opt for the cortisone shot before surgery. Your thoughts

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello madam/sir, welcome to medical care magic. The cortisone shot relieves the symptoms like pain but once you stop these shots the pain shoot back as the meniscal tear is there. Better go for operation because meniscus are avascular and healing is very slow. Any further doubts you are always welcome. Take care. Good health
