How To Treat Tinnitus Caused Due To Frequent Ear Infections?

Ii get a whooshing and clicking sound in my right ear also deaf in that ear. Have been to ent at hospital and had MRI done. No blockage. Damage has been caused by constant ear infections and syringing of ear when I was younger. I need to know what I can do.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tinnitus caused due to frequent ear infections. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to simple ear wax to more serious acoustic neuroma like condition. Need not to worry. You should take preventive measures such as avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain hygiene of ear canal. Put Otogesic ear drops. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan, low and high pitched ringing to rule out underlying systemic conditions. Doctor may treat it according to the diagnosis , he/she may prescribe medicine like eprisone and antibiotics.

If i were your doctor i would be interested in otoscopy and ear discharge if any. And probably would do culture of the discharge. In your case it seems that there is perforation in the ear. A grommet insertion woukd be useful and secondly ear infections can be treated according to culture and sensitivity report. As far as tinnitus is concerned it has many causes and tinnitus is not your symptoms according to what you have mentioned.
