How To Treat Tingling Sensation In The Feet And Calves?

Hi, my feet and calves mostly, but also thighs, have been having tingling and muscle cramping. The muscle cramping has been at night when i am laying down in bed, but the feet tingling is there all the time now.....this all pretty much started a month ago. That night i had very severe and painful gripping muscle cramps in both my feet and both legs from the tip of my foot to the very top of my thigh.....i was crying out in agony for hours, then for two days i could barely walk. That episode subsided but since that night about a month ago, i have had this tingling in my feet-and calves lesser-, and at frequently muscle cramping in the feet, calf and thigh......ive been living at a sulphur hot springs and have been going into the pool probably close to daily-would this have something to do with it? Iam a 68 yr old female......thank you!

The symptoms you describe is very much that of lower limb peripheral neuropathy. One experiences muscle cramps, numbness, pain, tingling, pin prick sensation, shooting pain of the legs, sometimes swelling of the legs and feet. Mostly this neuropathic problems are associated with Diabetes. Are you a Diabetic? Also one may experience these problems due to lumbar disc prolapse with nerve and cord compression. Do you have low back pain? The initial cause must be diagnosed and treated. MRI of the lumbar vertebra can diagnose a prolapsed I.V disc. Blood sugar fasting, postprandial, HbA1C can diagnose Diabetes.
However the degree of neuropathy can be diagnosed with a 'Nerve velocity conduction' test, and the dosages of medication--Cap Pregabalin can be advised. In cases where medication do not help much, Anodyne therapy is of help in resolving the symptoms. Please get yourself investigated by consulting a Physician, and doctor would then advise you on the management or refer you to a Neurosurgeon or an Orthopedic surgeon if it is due to lumbar vertebral disease.
