How To Treat Thyroid Nodules?

I thought i might of swallowed plastic lastweek.. Had a barium test done didnt show. But showed thyroid nodules.which are not in the way of swallowing.. Could it just be anxiety and how long does the something in the throat last for. How can you make that uncomfortable feeling go away

Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting the question.

Once you have thyroid nodule the investigations needed are thyroid function tests, ultrasound scan of neck and FNAC (needle biopsy) from thyroid. The treatment depends on these reports.

Thyroid function will say whether your thyroid is functioning normally or not. There are medicines to treat over active and Underactive thyroid.

The ultrasound will show the structure, number and size of the nodules. If it is larger than 4 cm you have to take it out.

FNAC will tell you whether these nodules are cancerous or not. If cancerous it has to be removed. If not the nodules can be followed up annually.
