How To Treat Throat Infection?

I am 19 years old. I have had a dry cough for the past few weeks and the past week I have had difficulty swallowing and my throat hurts, along with my tonsils being visibly swollen on my neck. There are also white sacs on my tonsils and they are swelling on the inside of my mouth. I went to urgent care two days ago and they diagnosed me with having a throat infection and gave me amoxocillen and ibuprofen to take twice a day. Just today I noticed I have red dots forming on the roof of my mouth. My throat is still continuing to hurt and have difficulty swallowing, and laying down it makes it difficult to breath. I feel a lot of pressure in the back of my head when I lay down. This is the third time this has occurred to me in the past seven months, but this is the worst it has been. I am not sure what else I should do because I do not know what is wrong.

Hello,
throat infections can get better even if you don't take any medications. Sometimes they become complicated and that's why we prescribe antibiotics (to avoid complications).
Your condition could be caused by a virus which means that antibiotics won't confer any benefit to you. The dry cough and the lack of sensitive lymph nodes on the your neck indicate that. Of course, nobody could be certain unless one's got culture results.
Since you mentioned breathing difficulty, which may happen when the tonsils swell excessively, you need an urgent clinical assessment.
Having a lot of tonsilitis attacks in a small time period calls for an ENT-specialist assessment.
I hope you found my answer useful. If you did then please don't forget to say "thanks".
Should you need further clarifications on the subject, I'll be glad to provide them for you.
