How To Treat Swelling In The Eye Caused After A Chemical Allergy?

I accidentally got hydrogen peroxide based cleaning solution for contacts in my eye. The white part of my eye severely swollen. Does this require an ER visit since I won t be able to see an eye doctor for at least 5 more hours? What can I do in the mean time?

Hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching and oxidizing agent.Concentrated hydrogen peroxide is caustic and exposure to living tissues may result in local tissue damage.Eye exposure to say 3% hydrogen peroxide may result in only redness and stinging with no severe injury but more concentrated solution may result in ulceration or perforation of cornea, permanent eye injury including blindness.
Given the severity injury from concentrated hydrogen peroxide, i will suggest you get to the emergency room as soon as possible.Even if the eye Doctor is not there immediately, initial management like cleaning and dressing will not need the specialist.He may only be needed if more special eye interventions are needed and this will depend on the intensity of the injury evaluated clinically.
