How To Treat Sore Throat With Difficulty Swallowing?

I have had a very sore throat for 9 days. Started with my right tonsil, then across the back, then the back and left tonsil, now both tonsils and the back. Tonsils don t appear to be swollen. Red bumps have appeared at back of roof of mouth. No fever, but my temperature has been sub-normal, 96 to 97 F throughout. I am 60 years old and have had Strep a few times before in my life. I also have chronic post nasal drip and allergies so I thought this might be due to allergy. Getting tired of the pain when swallowing and during sleep.

Hi
Welcome to health care magic

It seems from the history that you are having sore throat with difficulty in swallowing. These symptoms indicate infection of the throat in the form of pharyngitis or laryngitis. The treatment of the condition is by use of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Salt water gargling and decongestants provide symptomatic relief.

Do consult your doctor for examination and appropriate treatment.
