Hello Doctor, my son is 2 yrs old. He is suffering from viral fever. He is feeling hungry, but not having any food. His tongue and lips are red. I doubt may be he is not able to swallow or his taste buds are not normal. Our pediatrician prescribed emeset. Even after emeset dosage he is not having food. I am worried coz he has no intake of food from 2 days. I require your suggestions
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain your son is suffering from HERPATIC STOMATITIS which is a viral infection and leads to the fever and inflammation of the oral mucosa like redness in tongue and lips which can be proceeded with blisters.. You should give him Tylenol for pain.. Feed him with cool foods like Gelatin, cool milk with bread soaked in it.. You can do cool packs over his lips and tongue.. Give him ample of rest and cool drinks.. In case if the blisters outbreak antiviral oral and topical medications like Acyclovir can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
