How To Treat Rashes And Blisters On Right Leg And Thigh Caused Due To Shingles?

Hi Doctor, I am having shingle rashes on my right leg. The first batch of blisters came out on my inner thighs a week ago and now I ve had two more patches of blisters on my upper thigh and calf. My question is, is it or al for my shingle rash to spread in three different areas? The blisters on my inner ugh has turned. Purplish and blackish color, is that normal? And how did I have gotten shingle in the first place?Thank you,Nova

Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have recently been experieincing an outbreak of shingles. The cause of this is the chicken pox virus living in your nerves start to grow again along a nerve root. We do not know why this happens.

The treatment for the blisters is to keep them covered with wound dressings. You can try using calamine lotion to help the healing. the different colors are normal. The blisters take about 2 weeks to fully heal.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again with your health care questions
