How To Treat Problems With Urine For A Person Who Has Recovered From Coma?

yes. i was in a coma, so that has given me problems with the stream of my urine & once in awhile i wet my bed. i take benadryl for sleep because coma can give you insomnia. i was just looking up benadryl & it said do not take if you have trouble urinating. but mine is not from a prostate problem. i am female. does this still apply to me? thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The urinary problem may be due to catheterization while you were in coma.It is known to produce bladder/ureter infection.
Please get your urine checked for infection after consulting urologist. Urine culture & sensitivity test may be advised for exact choice of antibiotic.Usually antibiotics with alkaline mixtures & anti inflammatory drugs are given A prolonged course may be advised to remove the infection .
few more investigations ( cystoscopy) may be needed before treatment.

Thanks
