Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI I HAVE TYPE 2 DIABETES. HAVE BEEN FOR 10 PLUS YEARS. MY VISION RECENTLY CHANGED. I WEAR BI-FOCALS AND AM NEAR SIGHTED. NOW I CAN SEE BETTER OUT OF MY BI-FOCALS FOR DISTANCE AND MY REGULAR LENS IS BLURRED. I HONESTLY HAVE NOT BEEN COMPIANT WITH MY DIET OR MEDS. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT WILL CLEAR UP WITH COMPLIANCE OR PERMANENT? SHOULD I SEE OPTOMETRIST?
Hello, T2 diabetes affects small blood vessels of retina in the eye, particularly if blood glucose is not well controlled. So please get a retianal examination by visiting an ophthalmologist and see if there is problem with retina. Vision can be badly affected due to that. Secondly strict blood glucose control is absolutely essential in diabetes to avoid long term complication. Should maintain fasting around 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. Thanks.
