How To Treat Monocyte Count Of 1.7?

I just had a blood test and my monocyte count came back at 1.7. The high end of the normal range was .08. My count seems not only high, but extremely high, as it is more than double the high end of the normal range. The rest of my blood test came back normal, and negative for mono, but I'm still waiting for the results of a throat swab that will indicate whether I have strep throat. My question is: are my monocyte results in-keeping with someone fighting strep throat, or do I have more to be concerned about given the extremely high level?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
High monocyte count occurs in cases of chronic infections like malaria, kala azar, and neoplasms.
Throat infection with streptococcus bacteria will lead to increased number of neutrophils in blood and not monocytes.
There is some other cause for elevated monocytes in blood.
Thus, investigations are required to know the cause of elevated mnocyte counts.

Thanks and take care
