I have recently been on a reality show and would suffer from a lump in my throat or tightness and a hoarse voice. When l was eliminated by voice disappeared. Now if l go out to a noisy place and need to talk loudly the next day my voice box is tight and my voice is hoarse. I feel like my throat is scratchy and I m fed up with the tight feeling. Hello
Thank you for trusting HCM

Dear how old are you?? Most common cause for hoarseness and tightness in middle age is muscle tension dysphonia(MTD) , which is caused by primary MTD muscles in your neck are tense when you use your voice but there is no abnormality in the larynx (voice box)

Secondary MTD In this type, there is an abnormality in the voice box that causes you to over-use other muscles to help produce your voice

Other possibilities like infection, Vagus cranial nerve problems etc.

Treated with voice therapy and botox injection. I think I answered to your question if you have more questions please feel free to ask me.

Take care
