How To Treat Head Injury In A 8 Months Old Child?

Hello Dr. Kondekar,

I have a 8 month old baby boy who fell back while sitting down two days ago, about 2 minutes after the fall I noticed a soft spot on the left side of his head about the 3 inches wide. The thing is that he fell on his back.. why would the bump be on the left side? There is no bruising or anything on the head.. what could this be? should I be worried?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Babies usually fall to one side. That is the reason she has developed hematoma that is accumulation of blood under the skin.

If you notice any of the signs , consult Pediatrician/Pediatric Surgeon at earliest

1. Excessive crying or excessive sleeping
2. Abnormal movements of the body which could be convulsion
3. Persistent Vomiting: 1 or 2 episode of vomiting is quite common in Pediatric Head injury and is not cause for concern.
4. Loss of consciousness

In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you happy and healthy life

Take Care
