General & Family Physician 's  Response
Don't worry as lots of time it is normal for baby to drink excessive water.
if he/she is gaining weight appropriately for his age and sex then no need to worry.

sometimes it may be a early sign of type 1 diabetes ( although unusual, can occur, so type 1 diabetes mellitus must be considered in any infant or toddler)

some of the symptoms of early Diabetes is
1.poor weight gain
2.severe and recurrent diaper rash
3.increased thirst
4.vomiting and dehydration
5.unexplained generalised weakness

if yes to above symptoms then do check with your near by pediatrician
if in doubt, check the urine for glucose.

Thank you
