How To Treat Enterococcus Faecalis Growth During Pregnancy?
Hi.I am diagnosed with moderate growth of endococcus faecils. I am 9+ weeks pregnant. My doc put me on antibodies for five days . I am worried of the baby. What is this bacteria and how it contacted me? Can anyone explain. Also will it re occur after taking antibiotics?
Hello dear Understand your concern Enterococcus faecalis is gram positive normal commensals of the gut floro that are not harmful. It may be come from the fecal or perineal area contamination during the sampling. I advice toy to repeat the vaginal swab test after consulting the experienced gynaecologist for better confirmation of growth of enterococcus faecalis. Instead of positive test, it should not treated during the pregnancy as it does not cause any complication and adverse effect on fetus. You have to consult the gynaecologist and stop to take antibiotic. It should be treated if you are positive till the end of pregnancy and you will go undergo delivery by vaginal route. Regular follow up to gynaecologist will be required. hOPE THIS MAY HELP YOU BEST REGARDS DR. SAGAR
