How To Treat Cough In Pregnancy?

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have had a terrible hacking cough for over 2 months now. I have been on 3 different courses of penicillan, 2 courses of codine, and the cough seems to get worse everytime. I am scared its pnemonia, but they cannot do xrays do to my pregnancy....

Hi,

Since you are having an hacking cough which is not getting better and is for 2 months now ,its better you get a Sputum sample tested for Acid fast bacilli.This is to check if you have tuberculosis.
You should also get an chest x ray with abdominal shielding done .There is not much risk to baby when abdomen is shielded and now maternal health is more important ,as if you have either tuberculosis or pneumonia and you do not take adequate treatment you will do more harm to the baby.
Please get in touch with a physician and get Sputum AFB 3 samples and chest X ray also and get it treated.
