How To Treat Cold Earache And Sore Throat During Pregnancy?

Hi im weeks pregnant and have a cold ear ache and sore throat. I have been awake most of the night and have taken paracetamol but it hasn't help. Is there anything else I can do or take to help ease it. I'm also struggling with breathing and getting out of breath!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cold earache and sore throat during pregnancy which seems to be due to left over respiratory tract infection which is spreading to ear by eustachian tube and causing its dysfunctioning. Need not to worry , as during pregnancy immunity gets lower and one gets infected easily . You should avoid excessive blowout and eating anything hard from that side. You should take medicine on the prescription of doctor only as this is very important in pregnancy . Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after thorough examination. You should get audimetery testing, otoscopic examination and paranasal sinus X-ray done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should take nasal saline rinses and take steam inhalation as well. Take proper course of antibiotics such as Levofloxacin along with antiinflammatory medication such as Sinarest. Do warm saline gargles. Put antiinflammatory ear drops in ear canals. Avoid touching or pricking ears with any sharp object. Also take healthy diet and vitamin supplement on advice of expert to boost the immunity .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
