How To Treat Chest Pain?

I have some pain in the middle of my chest upon inhaling and a small amount of pain when raising my left arm. The pain isn't significant but it feels almost like a pulled muscle. The pain isn't constant, just when inhaling deeply and small amount of pain when lifting my left arm. What could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
It really depends upon your age and general health. If you are young and usually healthy then it is likely a pulled muscle or muscle strain. If you have lung or heart disease or are older, then you need to see a doctor for an exam. Heart or lung disease could cause these problems but they are unlikely in the young and healthy.
