How To Treat Anxiety?

Hi, I have a question, I have anxiety/panic disorder & I have gone to so many Dr's in the past, that I really don't like to go unless it's something major & I have to. I would say since Friday, my chest has been feeling really tight to the point it's uncomfortable & I could feel a little dizzy or light headed sometimes... I take a Xanax & the symptoms are definitely alleviated. But now for the past day or 2, I have been getting heart palpitations & It's so strange... it feels like my heart flutters or like I can feel blood pushing through? I have also been really tired. I have no shortness of breath, but sometimes certain parts of my body tingle or my legs feel really heavy. I also was just married 2 weeks ago & had gone on my honeymoon & returned the Friday the tightness in the chest started... I have not had a really normal or what I consider normal bowel movement since I have been home... I am also getting random sharp chest pains which I attribute to gas because I haven't had any home cooked meals or a normal bowel movement. I am 36 & in perfect health other than the anxiety/panic disorder... I want to know if there is some insight as to what could be going on & if this is something I should be alarmed about? Thank you in advance.

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. You know that you have anxiety and panic attacks. then your chest tightness is a normal happening. Your dizziness and lightheadedness are due to your obsessive thinking about your health or Acid reflex. Palpitations are clearly due to obsessive thinking.

From the description it is very clear that you do have health related anxiety or hypochondriasis. Psychotherapy treatment with Cognitive Behavior Therapy, meditation and psychiatric intervention should prove to be effective. You need to learn to manage your health anxiety. Consult a psychologist.

Good luck.
