How To Treat Acute Stomach Pain?

Hi, Please excuse some of the spelling. My husband has Hep C, cirrhois, low platelet count, varicies that have been banded 3 or 4 times (in the throat and upper stomach) His stomach has started swelling alot. He won't go to the doctor and has started having alot of pain espically in the right side of his stomach. How long will this go on? I feel so bad for him.
