How To Treat A Possible Ingrown Hair With Pus On Hip Bone?

my husband has had what looked like an ingrown hair at first on his left hip bone for sometime now? he used to where a tool belt so i thought that was irritating the area so we did pull a few hairs to see if that would help a while back event tried to pop it. Now it looks really puffy some purplish color and bigger like he was bit by a spider and maybe filling with puss. but its not he cut it a bit nothing at all.its been there for at least 3 months if not more and he s starting to get pains down his legs and in his lower stomach. . and is painful to the touch now also?
