How To Treat A Person With Stroke And Memory Loss After Taking Pradaxa For Heart Valve Surgery?
my sister was put on pradaxa for a heart valve surgery and when taken off 2 days before surgery she had a stroke with short term memory loss. She did have the heart valve surgery and has since had pneumonia and finally wound up in a nursing home situation for rehabilitation. Now they have her on all this medicine exleon patch and namdema and ativan and many other drugs which I think are just causing her problems. What do you think?I think she is being overdosed and is just a zombie. She was in good health and a happy virbant person before all this. I do not think she should be on dementia drugs.
cannot say in her particular case without seeing her. The extent of the stroke is a key point. In stroke rehab (and mnemonics, and addiction medicine for that matter) you repurpose the parts of the brain that work to cover for the parts that do not. stroke prevention would include blood thinner such as pradoxa, baby aspirin, statin. namenda has never been shown to be very effective; it is quite marginal. ativan at lowest dose is not bad but it is, of course, a sedative.
