How To Treat A Bump After Having Stitches For Head Injury?

I hit my head on the corner of a wall running. It was bleeding a lot but I put tons of pressure for 45 min and stopped most of bleeding.Went to hospital and needed 5 stitches. I got a pretty big pump from the stitching (blood) and they say may even get bigger. Can I put pressure on it and ice it? Will that help. They said will be swollen for days

Hi and welcome to HCM,
Swelling of tissue is a common reaction of our body to any trauma.
In your case, since there was a lot of bleeding there could be some blood clot also. Cold compress with ice is a good idea.
All the best!!!
